LDM-240, Lymphatic Drainage Massage

Lymphatic Drainage Massage (LDM), is a gentle, rhythmic style of massage that mimics the action of the lymphatic system and uses precise rhythm and pressure to open the initial lymphatics and stimulate lymph vessel contraction to reduce edema. Edema is an unusual accumulation of fluid in soft tissues that can be temporary and mild, or serious such as chronic lymphedema. In this class, students review the anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic system, theories related to the use of LDM, indications and contraindications, and basic techniques.
