The Academy of Natural Therapy would like to share with you the excitement of this growing, expanding career. Massage Therapy is unique in that it encompasses so many positive aspects of a care-giving profession, something that is becoming more widely recognized, and is quickly growing as a standard modality in doctor’s offices, health clinics, spa’s, and hospitals.
Dorothy Mongan, founder of Academy of Natural Therapy, says, “There is great satisfaction in improving the quality of health of others.”
The Academy of Natural Therapy is proud to provide the quality education that you need to become successful in the massage field. Results of a 2010 survey compiled by the American Massage Therapy Association showed:
The benefits of massage are truly miraculous when compared to contemporary medicine. There is almost no human condition that cannot be helped or overcome by this caring practice. Touch is the first language spoken when a child is born. Security, guidance, and care can be transmitted through the hands. Sensory receptors in the hands are capable of detecting abnormalities in the body, flow of energy, troubled organs, the skeletal system, and trauma in the muscles, and with the proper training, are capable of providing comfort and release from pain. Circulation can be improved, muscles lengthened, range of motion increased, and pain relieved, all through massage.
Massage improves health on a cellular level by encouraging each cell in the body to take in nourishment, get rid of waste, and become electrical for optimum health. Massage Therapy is reassuring, relaxing, and empowering, helping the receiver to take control of their well-being.
Your career as a Massage Therapist will bring exciting change as you progress from a desire to help others to acquiring the knowledge to know how to make a difference in people’s lives. You will be able to do postural analysis, assess distortions, and begin the journey towards a healthier client by stretching, manipulating the muscles, and educating them on how to help themselves as they move forward with treatment. Your knowledge of both the mental and physical needs of your clients will help those under stress to become calm and move towards a sense of ease within their life so that healing may take place.
As a massage therapist, your hands are your tools, and learning how to take care of them, as well as your body, and most certainly your mind, is an important part of your education here at the Academy of Natural Therapy, and a vital part of becoming a massage therapist. Your education here will last a lifetime.
